Energy Modeling
EME’s Building Energy Simulation Team (BEST) delivers state-of-the-art modeling using a variety of tools including DOE-2.1E, eQuest, VisualDOE, Trane Trace and Carrier HAP. We have worked with thousands of buildings including academic, medical, research, residential and commercial facilities to screen energy conservation measures. EME staff work daily with building codes and bring this knowledge of their impact on design procedures to the design team. EME has modeled a wide range of energy consuming systems including building envelops, HVAC, controls, lighting, motors, variable speed drives, transformers, insulation, windows and other building systems. We have repeatedly demonstrated our ability to work alongside the design team in this capacity and enhance a project’s energy performance.
EME has developed whole building models and code-compliant design models based on the newly enacted New York City Energy Conservation Code (NYCECC); the most recent Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State (ECCCNYS); the ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1 – 1999, 2001, 2004 and 2007 based Section 11; the Energy Cost Budget (ECB) Method; and the ASHRAE Appendix G, Performance Rating Method (PRM). EME has successfully developed DOE-2.1E building energy simulation models for documenting compliance with LEED Energy & Atmosphere Prerequisite 2: Minimum Energy Performance and Credit 1: Optimize Energy Performance for a variety of LEED Rating Systems including New Construction (NC), Commercial Interiors (CI), Core & Shell (CS) and Retail-NC.
