Commissioning

EME Group’s follows building commissioning guideline standards developed by ASHRAE, specifically Guidelines 1.1-2007 and 0-2005. EME has implemented these guidelines for a number of agencies including, NYS Dormitory Authority, NYS Energy Development Authority, City University of New York Construction Facilities and USGBC’s Commissioning for LEED Certified Projects and a number of private sector clients.

EME Group is an active member the Associated Air Balance Council Commissioning Group (ACG) US Council of Commissioning Professionals and staff include certified commissioning authorities, licensed engineers and architects and LEED Accredited Professionals.

EME’s commissioning process is quality-oriented for achieving, verifying, and documenting that the performance of facilities, systems and assemblies meets the defined objectives and criteria. Commissioning encompasses the entire lifespan of the project, from the development of the Owner’s Program and Basis of Design, through the traditional design and construction phases, to the acceptance phase at the end of construction, and the post construction testing phases.

The fundamental objectives of the Commissioning Process are:
• Clearly document Owner’s Project Requirements
• Provide documentation and tools to improve the quality of deliverables
• Verify and document that systems and assemblies perform according
   to the OPR
• Verify that adequate and accurate system and assembly documentation is   provided
• Verify that operation and maintenance personnel and occupants are
  properly trained
• Provide a uniform and effective process for delivery of construction projects
• Deliver construction projects that meet the owner’s needs at the time
  of completion
• Utilize quality-based sampling techniques to detect systemic problems; such   sampling provides high value, efficient verification, accurate results, and
  reduced project costs
• Verify proper coordination among systems and assemblies, among all
contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and manufacturers of furnished
  equipment of assemblies
